What a day. From early this morning the rain was literally trying to dampen our parade. However, with a little luck we were fortunate to have almost the full three hours at the market with only a slight drizzle. It was really great to see families, dogs and other patrons walking up and down the market checking out all of the local items available. Truly a great atmosphere to be a part of. The market is not just about selling items, it's also about educating consumers and helping them understand more about the things they eat.
It definitely will take time for us to make the switch back to supporting those who produce real food since the companies who currently dominate the supermarket shelves today are way more concerned about their bottom line than their customers health and well being. Yes, the shift back to the way things should be produced will take a very long time but as with anything, it starts with small changes. The farmers market is just one little part of the bigger goal that we should be focused on. Hopefully, next week we'll have a full day of sunshine. Come down and check it out next Saturday along with pony rides and petting zoo that will be in attendance.
