Excuses - they're like ...

I hate to sound like debbie downer but it seems to me that a lot of people out there have an excuse for why they're either unhealthy or over-weight.  Sometimes it's the hardest thing to hear because these people may be loved ones or really great people in general.  Unfortunately for them they're quick to shoot out and excuse when challenged about there physical appearance of health issues.

Some of the excuses more commonly heard are:
1) I want to enjoy my life
2) You only live once
3) I have a family history of this so i'm bound to get it
4) So and so was the pinnacle of fitness and drop dead at age 26
5) I'm young and it hasn't done anything to me

Real people making what they think are valid excuses for why they're in the position they are in.  It's tough to explain these things to people you care about but I'd rather be uncomfortable for a few minutes while trying to help someone, then watch them waste away because they feel that they're doomed to fall.  A lot of times I hear the, "well, everyone in my family is chunky so i'm bound to be a little heavier than most people."

Are you kidding?  Making these excuses is like saying, I have no control over my daily actions.  Now i'm not trying to go overboard and get all holy & religious on you and say "everything is in God's hands"  (although in the long term I do believe it is) however, you can control what you put in your mouth and your activity level as well.   It's time to extend a helping hand and get someone you know on the right track.  But how do we go about doing this?  It's tough to say hey buddy you're really fat and look like crap so can I help you out.  Stay tuned for the how to a little bit later on.
