There was an interesting discussion taking place the other night. The topic was about real food and why it's so difficult after all this time for people to grasp the concept of eating real food. It never ceases to amaze people when you tell them things like, "I don't eat fast food" or anything with artificial ingredients and food dyes. A fifteen minute conversation is never enough time for people to understand this common sense approach to food.
Is it because we're habitual creatures by nature and if we didn't grow up on the notion of eating real food then we'll probably never make the conversion? Must we wait till a routine check-up at the doctor instills fear in us to the point where he/she demands a change for the benefit of our well-being? One thing is certain, as humans we are not perfect. Even the cleanest of eaters slip up and make exceptions in their routine from time to time. Those exceptions must not be the focal point of a much bigger system at work. In order to create a more powerful movement we must offer our knowledge to those willing and able to accept it. How does one break this down into baby speak? If you had to present your approach to food in less characters than those that make up a tweet what would you say?
We feel that there are three categories people fall into when approached by real foodists. First, there are those who will be excited to learn more and eager to change. Second there will be those who are curious but may need some real motivation to understand the true benefits of a long term real food only approach. And lastly, unfortunately there will be those that just don't get it or don't really want to get it. These people will be left behind because you cannot change someone who doesn't care enough about themselves. You can try as hard as possible but as with many other things in life it has to come from within.
